On Friday December 19 Advanced Fire Protection Services (AFPS) presented the Independence Fund with a check for $15,000 to benefit local veterans injured in the line of duty. AFPS employees and friends donated to the cause throughout 2014 and reached their goal just in time for the giving season. The check was presented by Mike Brown, AFPS’ President, and his team to Norm “Frenchy” LaFountaine, sitting Board Member of the Independence Fund, and Steve Fleming, a local wounded veteran who has received assistance from The Independence Fund. The donation will be used to purchase a custom built all-terrain chair for a wounded veteran living in the local area. AFPS celebrated their 25th year of operation in 2014 and chose to assist local veterans as a thank you to the community.
